What Is Bound? [second gallery]
The installation in the second gallery explores distinctions: presence, absence, and our perception of the space that exists between them. By choosing to trace the outline of the candle's shadow, each participant decides to attempt to define the boundary between two extremes—light and dark, control and chance, temporary and permanent. Through this simple, yet concrete act, we may collectively document abstraction: movement, change, and the fluid nature of our perception of space, as well as the qualities of space itself, as it responds to our presence and absence.
